Reclaiming the Rainbow
Explore the irony behind the pride symbol and how the culture is trending back toward conservatism.

June has always been my favorite month of the year. When I was younger, June represented the first month of freedom as the school year ended. It’s swimming pool and picnic season. In Western Pennsylvania, where we live, the temperatures are most moderate in June.
Lately, however, June—hailed by some as “Pride Month”—has become a month-long reminder of the depths of depravity our culture has fallen to.
During June of 2023, we’ve witnessed how, under the banner of the beautiful and iconic symbol of the rainbow, grown men dressed as women (and sometimes as young girls) have exploited real women and bankrupted high-performing corporations and brands. We’ve cringed as Target featured clothing designed by a self-identifying “trans demon” and an Adidas swimsuit model donned a “tuck-friendly” women’s suit while displaying his chest hair.
The American public responded to this lunacy predicably. For example, Anheuser-Bush stock plummeted $27 B after the Dylan Mulvaney stunt. According to the New York Stock Exchange, Target Corporation (TGT) has lost 20% of its value in just a few short weeks. And, following the Los Angeles Dodger’s decision to honor a male drag queen group known as the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence with their “Community Hero” award, over 5,000 from the Catholic and Christian communities showed up outside the stadium on June 16 to protest. You can read more here.
Additionally, the MLB is quietly telling teams to drop the use of Pride uniforms, and US Bishops are now urging Catholic hospitals to stop performing trans surgeries. These are only a few examples of what is becoming a much larger trend to push back against the disturbing cultural invasion by the “alphabet mafia,” as Charlie Kirk has coined it.
It’s Sad but Ironic
But the striking irony here is that backstory of the rainbow depicts, more than anything else, God’s judgment. Although Noah’s arc is often presented as a cute Bible story, the account of the flood described in Genesis chapters 6-9 talks about an unprecedented time of evil, depravity, and human suffering. Look at Genesis 6:11-13:
“Now God saw that the earth had become corrupt and was filled with violence. God observed all this corruption in the world, for everyone on earth was corrupt. So God said to Noah, “I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth!” (NLT)
Later in that account, God gives a sign that the judgment has ended. The rainbow is to “remind God” to never send a flood again to destroy humanity because of their moral depravity. Read Genesis 9:13-15 here.
The irony continues. As part of this covenant with humanity, God gives the command earlier in the chapter to “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth” (Genesis 9:1). Conversely, homosexuality and the transgender movement seek to rob men and women of their God-given ability to procreate. The highly dangerous puberty blockers and experimental surgeries can never make a man into a woman or a woman into a man—they can only make that individual sexually dead and unable to produce offspring.
This shouldn’t surprise us, though, because Satan comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. (John 10:10).
And don’t forget that it was the sin of pride that caused God to kick Satan out of Heaven! Read the account found in Isaiah 14:12-17 here.
The Tide is Turning
The good news is that the devil always overplays his hand. He (they/them) has been fully exposed. In response to this year’s pride month, a new movement is underway to reclaim the rainbow. Individuals from all races and spiritual convictions are banned together to take back what the enemy has stolen.
Conservative rappers Bryson Gray and Shemeka Michelle partnered with Gospel singer Jimmy Levy to release “Reclaim the Rainbow.” You can listen here.
If you think this song title sounds silly or quirky, please note that, as of Monday, June 19th, “Reclaim the Rainbow” is ranked #3 on iTunes. It is just behind Luke Comb’s “Fast Car” and ahead of Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers” and Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer.” Even the notoriously far-left entertainment industry is feeling this cultural shift.
The Wrap-Up
Know this: Galatians 6:7-8 says, “Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”
So, the next time you see a rainbow, I encourage you to join me in sincerely praying for those who, by mocking God’s creation, are inviting His judgment. Jesus is returning soon, and He won’t be coming back as an innocent, helpless child—He’ll be riding a white horse to wage war and judge the nations for their wickedness. (Revelation 19:11-16).

Awesome post Amy! So many great points!
Thanks Amy! The rainbow has always been ours. They/ them stole it from us. It's a shame when you become afraid to display any type ofh rainbow colors because of what people might think. Well, I know that the rainbow in the sky is God's covenant with us the He will never destroy the earth by a flood. (Paraphrase) (Genesis 9:8-17)
